| Changing of A-record and CNAME (domain pointing). What is this and why change? A-Record: A is short for Address and you can set it up so that the domain name will point to a given IP-address. CNAME: CNAME means Canonical Name Record and is an alias set up to represent an IP address. This is the recommended method when you wish to point the domain to a personal server without using an IP-address.
IMPORTANT: A-Record Can only point to an IP-address. CNAME cannot be pointed to a IP-address, but must point to a server name. You can/should not set up multiple A-Records or CNAMEs to the same Host (as in the first column). If you set up multiple pointing for the same address the system will not know which pointing that is valid.
Changing of A-record and CNAME makes it so that you choose to have home pages on another server than Active24. By contacting the web hosts for your homepages you will get information about what should be set as the A-record and CNAME on their domain so that it will show the home page.
Explanation of a Host: @ is the domain name. In this example: exampledomain.info Stats are a host that functions as a sub domain. In this example: stats.exampledomain.info www is also a host that functions as a sub domain. Also: www.exampledomain.info You must first change to Advanced Mode and after click on Domain Admin under Domain in the menu on the left-hand: ![]() Klikk på Endre-knappen til høyre: ![]() This example is to change the A-Record for the domain. When you click on the icon above, the following picture is shown: ![]() Here you have the opportunity to set up the IP-Address that you wish to have.
Click on update after you have typed in the Destination.
2. Delete the www-line and set up a new Record Type: A, Host: www, Destination: Same IP-address as above Note: It can take up to 24 hours before the changes are updated in the zone file and thus visible for you. Redirect/Frameforward.
